The rarest variety of topaz is those that combine several shades. They are called polychrome topazes. The most unique topazes are found in Volyn, this is the richest deposit of polychrome topazes.

Each American state has its own symbol. Topaz was honored to become the official symbol of Texas. It was very symbolic. Topaz is considered the stone of optimists, and the motto of Texas is "Friendship".

Even in literature, topaz has inspired many people. The most beautiful description of topaz was made by the famous Oscar Wilde in the play "Salome". He wrote: &"There are topazes yellow, like the eye of a tiger, and pink, like the eyes of a wood pigeon, and green, like the eyes of a cat." The stone was also praised by the poet M.A. Kuzmin.

Historians claim that it was topaz that was in Ivan the Terrible's hat when he assumed the title of Tsar of Kazan.
Topaz gained its greatest popularity when the famous French jeweler Maury created a pendant with it in the shape of a small heart. It was he who opened the fashion for this stone.
